Luno

Turn an Android phone and SIM card you already own into programmable SMS infrastructure that you host yourself.

Luno is an open-source Android SMS gateway built by Sarasto. It runs on an Android phone with a SIM card that you own, and turns that phone into programmable SMS infrastructure. Because it is self-hosted, you keep control of the device, the number and the messages.

What it does.

Your phone, your SIM

Messages are sent from an Android phone and SIM card you own and control, using your own number.

Programmable

Send SMS from your own software instead of typing messages on the phone by hand.

Self-hosted

You run Luno yourself, on your own hardware, with no third-party SMS provider in between.

Open source

The source code is public on GitHub, so you can read it, run it and change it.

Good to know: Luno is suited to lower-volume or controlled sending, such as notifications and alerts for a single business. It is not designed for bulk messaging at carrier scale.
